Guys.....I got an hp 17" monitor. It's the soft screen. I think a liquid crystal display....is what they call them? (Don't know the exact term but the screen is soft to the touch)

Anyways.....I keep getting a light cloud looking streak in the monitor. I can turn off the monitor for a while and it goes away but seems to come back in. Doesn't really mess up anything but it's there.

I'm wondering if the monitor is going bad or something else? Sorry for using all those high grade tecnical terms.....d:)

Thanks!

Hi Jim

Do you have another monitor that you could try on the computer? This would narrow it down to either the graphics card or the monitor itself. You may want to download the latest drivers for your card and see if that helps. Best I can do for ya right now. Hopefully the computer gurus will be by...

Hey Rick....

Good ideas to try. Maybe I'll swap whatshernames' monitor for mine and see what happens.

Thanks for the thought...

Re: White Clouds On My Screen

Hate to say it OBJ but your moniter is going south. These beautiful new flat screens are not made of the same stuff the old CRT's were. New technology with no durability.

In the old days, the early units of something new were always bulletproof, overbuilt if you will. Only later when they learned to cut corners did they shorten the life of them. However, now, they are in such a hurry to bring new technology to the market, and it is so complex, it just doesn't hold up like the old stuff.

One exception to this rule are the newer optical mouses. So far they have outlasted 3-4 of my old mechanical meese. I'm wondering when they will start puprposefully making them self destruct after a defined period of time.
