Hi out there,
What do you use to clean your boat? I have a white film on the boat and the motor and I can't seem to get it off with the cleaner I have. It seems like a calcium film or something similar. I think the cleaner I tried is called 'Sea Brite' or something like that.

That sound like early signs of oxidation of the finish. Try polishing compound and a coat of wax........ you only need to try a small spot about 1 foot square to tell.

Thanks. I'll see what works over the next few days.

He says he also has it on the motor. I haven't seen a motor get oxidized

After some digging, I think it's probably a hard water film. Like what 'Scott Danforth' said - I think I'll try some kind of acidic cleaner. Maybe not toilet bowl cleaner, though. That sounds a bit on the highly corrosive side. Maybe CLR or something like that.

Try a light duty rubbing compound. West Marine has an eco friendly version that works very well. It's citrus based. I used it on my boat this past spring and followed up with a wax application. Marina I took it to for summerizing was impressed with the boat and couldn't believe it was 7 years old.
