white smoke

what is causing my motor to pour out white smoke.it started to do it just like that.it still runs good,just smokes like crazy. its a 1976 75hp evinrude thanks for any help.

You may be getting water into one of the cylinders. Pull the plugs and see if one or more look like "New". Real clean! If so, run a compression test on all cylinders and let us know. You may have a bad head gasket...<br /><br />EDIT: Didn't see you had 2 posts going, but I still stick with the advice I gave you. Try to stick with one post and you will get better results for your problem...

i am going to install a new head hasket and have the head checked out. also could my reeds be bad,letting to much fuel in motor

The reeds don't have anything to do with it, as it still runs good, but the new head gasket and checking the head out for trueness is good thinkin'...
