who made 12hp engines and

which ones should i stay away from? im looking for a motor for my11' RIB and a friend said she had a 12hp in the garage. ill use the boat for nearshore spearfishing so reliability is a major issue. thanks for any help!

Well, nobody has made a 12hp for a long time. I'd think the ideal motor for your RIB would be a Johnson or Evinrude 9.9. They're reliable, available at reasonable prices, and parts are easy to come by.

If reliability is crucial, I'd stay far away from the old early 50s 12 hp models. Truly.
