Who makes the Merc 15hp 2-stroke?

Is it made here by Merc or is it an import? I have heard different stories, even from dealers.<br />Thanks!<br />-Nick

Nick: I believe that all of the smaller Merc outboards are made in Japan by Tohatsu. They are identical to the Nissan and Tohatsu brand labels and parts should be interchangeable. Mercs seem to have a higher price tag, probably because of name recognition and warranties that are backed up by the Mercury company.

can you back up this info? I thought merc made all there outboards with the help from honda?

sloopy he is right all 2 strokes are made by them but the 4 strokes pull the powerhead form yamaha and other componants from Honda
