Hey I think I finished my reseal of my lower unit(79 chrysler 140) but why did the reseal kit come with 2 prop shaft seals? is there another identical seal that needs replacing still? I couldn't find it, and didn't notice anyhting in the manual about it.

I can't tell from the photo but is the extra seal actually a bit smaller? does it have a different number? If so, it could or would be the water seal for the top of the water pump.

Otherwise, you got more value for your money. These is only one prop shaft seal in the spool. Might be room to fit two, I have thought of trying it but never got a "round tuit"

Thanks Frank! It was the exact same seal as the prop shaft. After studying the clymer diagram of the l/u I thought it was the water seal, but, it was too big. Guess they just gave me a spare, thought that was odd so I posted on here.

The rubber in the old seal was rock hard and not round anymore. The drive shaft seal was shot too. I think they were original, it looked like someone had torn it down before and coated every seal in blue RTV...lota help that does on a moving part.

heres a pic of my homemade spool puller at work, it was made with some instructions frank posted somewhere on this forum.
