why do 15 hp motor idle bad?

i'm getting a new motor for my 14 ft. jon boat.. i can't decide if i want a 9.9 or a 15 hp... the 15 hp would be the perfect balanace of weight and power for me, but i do not want to go dead when i idle, and my grandfather tells me that a 15 hp motor idles bad and isn't good for taught lines.. so what to do???

Howdy FBP.<br /><br />Take Grandpa with you when you go engine shopping and have the dealer demonstrate the 9.9 and the 15 in a tank for you. If Granpa agrees that that 15 idles fine, buy it.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB

My Johnson 15 4s idles just fine. PS I'm a grampa too.
