I have a 1989 Force 125 motor. I was wwondering why it uses plugs with no gap adjustment. Any recommendations on the best plugs I can put in the motor. I would be out right now but Isabelle is pounding Annapolis with 50 plus winds right now.
Thanks for the input

Your engine should be using L76V or BUHW spark plugs. They are surface gap.

TMD

Similar concern;

I have a 1989 Force 85hp...I looked in the Cylmers and it showed I was to use a surface gap plug as well...however it has 3 standard plugs (the kind with the little arm that goes over the center electrode)...they seem to work....Would it work better if I went to the surface gap (flat top) plug!??
If there is no differance, why do they use the surface gap plug at all?....Just wondering.
Thanks
Tim

Most manufactures that recomend a serface gap plug for and outboard will also list a regluar gap style plug as an alternate to use for extended low speed operation, such as hours of trolling. Which plug works better in your motor, under your condition is a matter of trial. I have trolled many seasons with the serface gap plugs and had no problems. Other motors will prefer the other plugs.. Quite often you will find that if your having problems with one style plug, you will have problems with the other as well. This indecates that there are problems else where.

The surface gaps are suppost to be much more foul resistant. That's the only reason why they are better.

Your motor came stock with champion UL18V's spark plugs these seem to work really well on most motors. Motors that have a problem loading up I like to use champion L77JC4's gapped @ .030. Good luck, Bret

If you need further assistance please email me @ forcepower01@yahoo.com.
