why different heights of guide posts? is one better than the other, how do you know if they are installed properly, does depth of water effect the use better on one than another (short vs tall) mine had been working fine ,just recently I tightened one side, now suddenly boat loads crooked. is it operator, guide, depth in water or all of the above ? one more, if adjusted properly how close to boat side should post be after being loaded :) Red skies at night to all ! thanks for looking

The different heights exist to accomodate different sized boats. Some are better than others for various reasons. To determine whether they're installed properly consult the instructions that came with them, but usually it's a pretty straightforward process. As to what may or may not be wrong with yours we can't really say without some more info. Pics would be ideal.

Different heights are for different reasons. You may have a steeper pitch ramp, so the view from your vehicle needs more height. you may have an SUV where you can't see well until you have more height. :)

Yeah, I backed the 15'er in the river once, the tops of my 4' posts disappeared.
