Why is Tohatsu not as popular?

While comparing prices for lower HP (under 100 HP) four stroke engines I noticed a complete lack of comments on Tohatsu. When comparing pricing and specifications the Tohatsu was always cheaper and boasted similar specs. I notice alot of the commercial dock guys etc. use Tohatsu on their work motors but very little in the recreational realm? Why is that?

Less years in the US market.
Few if any dealers in most of the country.
Little to no marketing.

Being the new kid in the block many prefer known neighbors such as Nissan, Mariner, Mercury, Evinrude. 4 strokes 30 HP and under, are rebadged same Tohatsu family members. Tohatsu " Thumbs Up"

My cousin bought a 40hp tohatsu about 10 yrs ago to go on a J16 Carolina Skiff. That thing would push 50 mph and was extremely reliable. If I ever get a stick steer Jon boat, that is what's going on it
