Why isn't Johnson 115EL76 listed

I've had my 1977 Glastron T178 for about three years and am quite happy with it.

I am concerned every time that I go to get parts for the motor. The manufacturers plate shows 115EL76, which indicates that it is a 1976 115 hp motor.

I have yet to find a marine store online that shows that a 115 hp Johnson was built in 1976. I see other references to them here in the forums and I know that I have one on my boat.

When buying parts online, should I:

1) Use the 85hp model shown for that year.

2) Use the 1977 model year for the 115 hp motor.

I'm open to other suggestions.

that's a good question, that we will probably never be able to answer. it looks like the left several models out in the 1976 listing, the 76 and 77 were both EL #'s EL76 7 EL77. so i would go with the 115 1977, until you find differently.

I had the same Johnson motor until June 2008. That is by far not the only motor missing from the BRP sites.

Be careful with the 1977 parts, because there are differences whereas the 1976 Evinrude is exactly the same motor except for the paint and the cover.
