people come here for help. some posters seem smug. for instance if you have a

question with an omc stringer, posters tell you to get a new boat. some of us would

rather fix it than sell it. we cant all afford new boats. if you dont have any help, dont

reply. i;m sorry if I sound like an a@!, but we all don't have new boats.

unfortunatly there are alot of folks on here that just give you bs responses and that sucks! look past those jerks because there are alot of people on here that give AMAZING help and support (i just got several tonight that were quick and right on point!! THANKS GUYS!!!) the ones that are hard to deal with usually dont know much anyhow except how to keep up with the Jones' and what they think impresses others!!

hang in there man! this place is great!!

Some of the problem stems from how the questions are asked. Try to be as concise as possible even if you have no clue. Take pictures if you can. The most qualified responders will respond when they can see what the problem is and the less qualified won't because, quite frankly, it's hard to BS when a picture is telling the story. When you post a picture, study it well before you post it and make sure it really shows the problem you're facing.

Regarding telling you to get rid of it is sometimes the best possible advice. Don't be put off by it but instead carefully consider it before you make your decision to go forward. A lot of us have already tried what you may be facing and realize it ends up in an expensive fruitless effort. If a seasoned restorer tells you to find another boat, he's probably giving you some heartfelt, sound advice. We all love boats and the last thing we want to see is one in the bone yard.

Try asking you question again using the technique I've described and see how it works out for you.

Re: why not help

biddle, sorry to hear you've had a bad experience. As a few have said, and I'm sure countless more will say, this is a great place filled with a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips. The members are very tolerant of 'noobie' questions, but also able to provide insight/advise/expertise to complete restoration projects. I usually try searching the forum for what's needed (and can find it 85% of the time), and ask questions if it's not available/hasn't been asked.

Good luck to you, and happy boating!

Re: why not help

When the people reply that the boat you have is gonna be expensive to fix because they don't make the parts or the boat/motor/drive was a piece of crap from the beginning.
They are just trying to save you money and usually enough to buy a better setup.
By the way my boat is 23 years old this year.
My nephew bought a Rabolo(great nameboat) turned into a money pit.He wouldn't listen either.Sold it at a loss.
No one's trying to hurt your feelings they (believe it or not) are trying to help.J
