Wider Plug Gap for Trolling?

I've seen it posted here a couple times about gaping the J6C's to .035 instead on .030 if you do a lot of trolling to keep from fouling the plugs.

I use this engine as a get-there unit as well as troll a lot with it, would this be a wise thing for me to do?

That outboard originally called for Champion J4J (replaced by J4C). Gap was at one time .040" for low speed and trolling, .030" for normal operation.

People have been using the J6C for years to avoid fouling at low speeds, gapped at .030".

My own opinion is that the J4C is a better plug for normal operation, but needs the .040" gap for trolling.

The J6C is a good compromise if gapped at .030". That is what I suggest you use.
