Width of trailer question.

My trailer is rusted out! Pisses me off pretty bad :mad:

So i found a trailer for a good price. The only trouble i see is the width.

The trailer i have now is 71" between the beams. The trailer i am lookin at is 61" between the beams :confused:

My boat pretty much sits snug between the fenders on the 71" trailer with about 1" between the boat and the fender. Id say it sits above and over the main side beam about 4" on bunks.

So with a 61" trailer, the boat will have to be bunked above the main side beams and will stick out past the side beams about 11" i think if my math is correct <doubt it LOL>.

So anyways, do you guys think the trailer seems to narrow for my boat?
To me it sorta seems narrow but i also think i can bunk it and have it ride pretty sturdy, but theres just something botherin me about it.


Any opinions and ideas welcome. Thanks

it will make it much harder to launch and load, find another trailer.

Hey thanks for the reply!

My only worry is will it sit on the trailer correctly if i bunk it good and secure. I am not worried about ease of launch and recovery. My main concern is will this narrower trailer hold my boat secure if it sits a little higher off the main frame on the bunks. Getting my boat to the launch and back home safe is my main worry. At the dock i can deal no problem.

Also, the trailer is rated at 2995lb, and thats exactly what my current trailer is rated for, so being a lil more narrow, it is still within spec weight wise for my boat. It also has a longer tongue than my current trailer so i think i can sink it more when launching and recovering so that may negate the width issue as far as making it harder to launch and recover. Pretty much sink the bunks just below water level and slide right up on them like a roller trailer.

Its a good trailer in good shape for only $350 so even if it doesnt fit perfectly ill try to get some use out of it and if not im sure i can re sell it for a profit anyway. Im gonna pick it up tomorrow and ill get some pics and stuff on here then.

I guess my question should have been will it trailer my boat safely even tho it isnt a perfect fit.
