Wierd 1999 Mecury Carb 3.0L 225HP TPS readings

I already got the motor running fine but this is kind of strange (To me atleast).

I tested the IDLE and WOT TPS readings.

It's wierd I test and set it up but the IDLE and the WOT readings are reversed.


SHOULD BE:

IDLE : 0.950 + or - .050
WOT: 3.80 + or - 0.25


I get those numbers but they are reversed....

IDLE : 3.80 + or - 0.25
WOT: 0.950 + or - .050


How and why?

The motor is running %100 now after I fixed her up but it's still leaving me puzzled. What gives the TPS it's signals and why would it be reversed, and the motor runs %100?


BTW: I used this homemade harness on two of my Bro in laws engines and the readings were normal. I know it's not my wiring.

Lose the harness and just connect with the meter probes

It sounds like your setup is connected to "signal" and "5v reference" rather than "signal" and "signal return"
