wierd hole with plug on front side of boat

so guys on my 78 glastron 188 there is this weird hole with a bilge style plastic insert in it it seems to be below water level but not sure since I haven't had it in the water yet I noticed in original pics of the 78 boat in the brochure its there so its a stock hole its on the front right side I noticed this boat had a cooler as a luxury and the plug goes to the open are under the front bow seat anyone know what this is

A picture is worth a thousand words, but from my very limited experience, it sounds like an overflow for what could be a livewell...

I would back feed water into it and see where it comes out.

Sounds like it could be any of the above or a drain for the cooler compartment. As said above, put a hose to it and see where it comes out.

I can see where it comes out under the bow seat and straight to the side of the boat just seems odd

Just a drain for your cooler/fish box or live well. Most boats have them. No big deal it won't cause water to get into the hull.

It could be that the port bow compartment was considered an "anchor locker".

The biggest issue I can think of is if it was a Cored hull. I highly doubt it is in that location .. but who knows.

Is it loose at all ? If it is then you should re-bed this thing .. inspect if its cored .. if its not cored and solid fiberglass then that one less thing you need to worry about rotting :) .

im not sure what cored means but its not solid fiberglass almost looks like a weave pattern around the inside

it has a rubber plug in it who know how old that plug is ill try to take more pics when the cover isn't covered in snow
