My wife handles the truck when we launch
She noticed that I had a fear of different things that I might forget
So she said tell me what you are most afraid of and I will help you remember

OK

To put the plug in
To raise the engine
To remove the safety chain when the boat is in the water

Sooooo

She came up with something that she is very familiar with
That she repeats to me during the launch

PMS, PMS, PMS

Plug, motor, safety chain

If any of these things are missing it will give me PMS

After 30 years together I now feel her pain

When we launch, the wife has her chores and I have mine, we can remember 2 things each! I get in the back of the boat to launch it, she drives the truck, she does the safety chain and bow line, I put in the plug and pull the transom straps.

Took my parents out over the weekend while my wife was gone with the kids. I was definitely missing my 1st mate (or admiral?) while launching/retrieving. My dad did his best to help (& really was a big help), but it just wasn't the same. She has the routine down with me & makes the launch/retrieval much less stressful.

Agree 100%, my wife is a fixture in my launching. In the prep lane, she does the ground work (install plug, remove transom straps, unplug lights, tie off fenders) while I prep things inside the boat. Then I back in and she handles the lines while I park the truck. After the day on the water, she backs the truck in, I load, she pulls out, and again does all the ground work while I prep the interior for the ride home. Teamwork works great.

Totally Opposite. I do all the ground work and she does all the Interior boat prep.

With me ,I do everything and she stands there complaining.

Sounds like my soon to be EX-girlfriend.....complain, moan and groan and doesn't dare lift a finger. Boating isn't fun with her at all....hence the prefix "soon to be EX" in front of girlfriend. Lol.

Ok. Sounds good! I prep the boat the day before we go out. First thing is the plug. It goes in before we ever leave. Boat gets a test start and light check. Also check the bilge pump and top off the battery. Check tire pressures on the trailer and truck and make sure I have extra oil for trim and engine. Extra battery and gas can.....check- we are ready. While I do this she packs the cooler and sunscreen and dog stuff. When launching I prep the straps and she pays the fee. I launch the boat and she holds the lines and waits for me and the dog at the dock. Flawless! P.M.S. for me means the "Preparation Makes Smiles".
