I am working on another 1978 johnson 115ETL. I have been using a clymers manual for a few years. I found a 1977 115 manual (oem) for 45.00 . Would this cover everything that the 1978 manual would.
Thanks,
KYHunter

According to the ken cook website the 115ETL77 and 115ETL78 lists different P/Ns for service manuals. The 77' model is 506989 and the 78' model is 506999.The parts and owners manuals are also different numbers.I would have guessed they would be the same. Not sure what the differences are.

MarineEngine.com has the 1978 manual for 45.00, Couldn't see one listed on Ebay at the moment but they usually go for around 20.00 when available

There was a significant change in the ignition system in 1978. They went to the newer style power pack that had the plug-in connections. You would be better off spending your $45 on an original (engine-specific) manual from Ken Cook Co, in Milwaukee. Give them a call they will ship direct with a credit card.

Sorry , ya'll . I got wrapped up and forgot about posting this. But, I do appreciate your time. I am going to do as suggested and get the Ken Cook, or marine engine .com.
Ikeep trying e-bay, but so far everything but 1978. Contacted one guy who has a whole lot of manuals listed. He said , he cant get enough nor keep them, for that year.

Thanks,
KYHunter
