Will 1985 150hp 2.4 lower unit fit on 1983 2.0 150hp

Need a lower unit for my 1983 Merc XR2 150 2.0 outboard, found a 1985 2.4 150 hp merc with a blown power head, but perfect lower unit..will it fit?
Any modifications needed or?
Also what is the difference between the 2.0 and 2.4?

Bolt right up if both are same shaft length! Tha 2.4 is probably a 1.87 ta 1 and tha 2.0 is gonna be a 2 ta 1. You might have to do some prop changing to get it where ya want.............

Yes, they are the same shaft length.

Question..on the ratio issue, which way should I be going to on the prop pitch?
I am running 19 pitch currently.

Try yours first. It may work as long as it doesn't lug tha motor. If holeshot suffers and rpm at wot drop very much you might need to go a touch lower. If tha motor is healthy it may not even be an issue................
