Will 2 different size motors work with same controls?

I currently have a 20 river skiff in which I run a 50 hp honda. The skiff is alumunim and with a ceter console. Restrictions on the main river that I fish are 50 hp. I have taken the boat out in salt water and on the yukon on long trips. I would like to have a larger motor that I could swap out annually for saltwater and these long yukon trips in which i could carry more weight. I struggled this year pushing a moose we shot back up the yukon 320 miles. The motor ran great... at 17 mph max power on step, but a larger motor would have come in very handy. I was thinkin at least a 115 but maybe even a 125 or 150. Would the controls be the same between a 50 hp and these larger motors? Any advice would be much appreciated...

if it's the same brand, then yes.

Almost all Honda and Yamaha outboard can use the same control across all their engines so yes you can do that, may need to adjust the cables but it should work fine.

Is that true that honda controls and yamaha controls will work with each other. is that just the throttle control or wire, throttle/shift cables, switch and everything? I just bought a yamaha 40tlr four stroke 2009 and am about to rig it but I have an old boat with a honda 130 fourstroke with a honda binnacle on it and it would be great to be able to use it.

No, you need Yamaha controls for a Yamaha and Honda controls for a Honda, just like Ford and Chevy, all the parts are different.
