I have a couple gashes that run about 1/8" thick on the bottom of the hull of my aluminum boat. Can I use 3M 5200 to seal and patch these holes? Also, I need to add a drain plug to the transom of the boat and can I use the 5200 to help seal this area too?

For holes like that I would say to take it to a reputable welder. It would cost a bit more, but you won't wonder every time you bump a rock or stump.

The gashes are only close to an inch long a piecee. The main reason for it though is to install a brass drainplug on the back of the boat. The bottom i am planning on overhauling at the end of this year, mainly that part is a temporary solution for the year and the other would be fairly permanent.

I figured on using brass because I didnt like the look of plastic plugs and dont have too much trust in the durability. Found a brass one easy and fairly cheap so i bought it. If i put a rubber washer behind it and some silicone will I still have electrolysis worries?
