Will 40 hp Evinrude lower unit fit a 60hp Evinrude

I was wondering if anybody new if a 1987 evinrude 40 hp lower unit will fit a 87 Evinrude 60hp?<br />Also is there any was to put the newer style trim and tilt on the older motor?<br />Thanks.

There might be some interchangablity with these units but you fail to give us the info we need to know.Even if the gearcases are the same,the gear ratios between the 40 and 60 will be different and require attention.

NO these are two completly differant motors.

The 60hp is a 86 not a 87, I suppose I couldn't take the 60hp powerhead and put it on the 40hp?
