If the 85 is a 1977 and on a 25" mid section, yes. If it's a 20" motor, you will have to change 4 screw holes in the bottom (base gasket area) of the 79. It's very easy if you have the jig to do it. <br /><br />To see the difference, get a base gasket for your 1977 85 and hold it up to the bottom of the 140.<br /><br />Good luck!
