Will a 2001 elpt 90hp lower work on a 2005 90hp elpto?

The lower on my 2005 Merc 90hp Elpto took a crap. I friend of mine has one off a 2001 90 hp 4 stroke. Question is, will the 4 stroke one work on my 2 stroke. Thanks guys.
