I am looking for a replacement Merc 120. I have a chance to get a donor boat with a low hour mercruiser 120. I need to know if it will mate up to a Alpha I. Also, Some say parts for the older 120's are hard to find. What's the difference?

Let me clarify. My plans are to use the Mercruiser 120 motor off the 1967 and mate it to the 1985 Alpha I. I would use the Alpha I out drive and transom from the 1985 and only use the motor off the 1967. Thanks

Ayuh,... as long as you still have ALL the parts from the 85 motor,...

Yes, it can be made to fit...
You'll have to mix, 'n match to marry it to the Alpha 1...

The 85 is completely intacted. I am waiting for the marine mechanic to tell me why I have water in my oil. Can you tell me what would have to be mixed and matched?
