will a bigger carb work?

1979 johnson seahorse 4 hp. :confused: I was told I could get this to put out a bit more horsepower by changing The carb out to a bigger one. If this is true, what size will fit and is it worth it?<br /><br />Suzuki40 :confused:

suzuki; im pretty sure you can do that. but i'll tell you what my boat mechanic said to me. if you want more power, get a bigger motor!<br /><br />dont take it the wrong way.

I know what you mean...Its just this boat and motor is just a money pit. There is always something else you need! Just trying to cut corners.<br /><br />Suzuki40

i understand completely but, you can dump money into that thing and end up with problems. those carbs arent cheap! and by the time your finished with it you mighta been able to buy a good used outboard about $250.
