To fill up with water?

I purchased a 1991 Tracker Pro Deep V 17' and I just launched it for the first time yesterday and it took on quite a bit of water. Bilge pump was pumping out water for over 5 minutes after I took her out of the water. Good thing I checked it before I went out too far. And yes, I had the plug in the boat ;)

Thanks!
John

Might/probably have a hose disconnected or leaking under that feeds or drains the livewell.

Those pumps and through hull fittings are plastic, plastic gets old, brittle and can crack. Or they can get bumped and broken or damaged.
Put the boat in the water (still on the trailer) then LOOK and LISTEN for the leak. Shouldn't be that hard to find.

Might want to get an automatic bilge pump float switch and hook it up while your at it.

or put some water in it, plug in, while on the trailer and look for water coming out. But speed can push water up into a through hull and if the sea **** is broken or hose disconnected/cut, you get water in the bilge.

You can check your livewell system by holding the bare end of a garden hose up to the intake on the transom and turn it on. If your bilge fills with water it's the livewell system, if not your leak is somewhere else.

I will give that a try.

I could just plug all the holes in the back of the boat and go fishing ;)

Well,

I plugged everything in the back of the boat and backed it into the water and it is coming in from the hole where the bilge pumps out. I will straighten all this out this winter as I will be removing the floor and replacing all the pumps and pipe with new stuff and then redo the floors with new marine grade ply and new carpeting. Thanks again for the help!

That sounds like a livewell drain and not the bilge discharge, the bilge discharge sould be above the waterline.

Come hangout with us in the restoration forum when you start your resto work, lots of good folks and good advice.

You are absolutely right. The floor will be coming out soon and the upgrades will begin.

Thanks!
