Will a hood/cover from a 1986 V4 fit a 1973?

I have a 1973 Johnson 85 V4. I wanted to paint the hood and I already ordered a set of those sweet decals on eBay. Problem is, my '73 is one of the ones that had that black piece of trim that went the whole way around. I just removed it and it left me A LOT more holes to patch/fill than I had hoped. OMC really didn't want that stupid piece of trim going anywhere. So I was thinking it would just be easier to buy a hood from another moter hopefully without trim. One I came across was from a 1986 115. Looks correct but is it?

If the bottom edge fits I'm still concern about how the top tapers a bit on the '86 but not on a '73.

The rear of the eveinrude cowl has 3 sides while the johnson only has two.

Drat. You are more observant than I.

Not so. The 125 cover is not from a 1973 motor. Go to the parts diagram for the 1973 85HP cover on BRP and you will see that it has six sides. If you have the 1973 lower cowl, the 6 sided Evinrude cowl in your picture will fit.
BTW, I don't think the Evinrude cowl is from 1986, but it may be from a commercial model.

I checked mine to be sure. Unfortunately mine is like the 125 in the picture and not the one you saw on BRP. Bummer. You should see what people are charging for these things on eBay. The '86 was the only reasonably priced one. They aren't selling them, mind you, as I checked the completed auctions, just charging a ton.
