Will a pair of counter rotating outboards work?

I have been offered a heck of deal on a pair of new Honda 150's. Unfortunately they are both counter rotating. Will this be a problem for my 28' custom powercat? The engine mounts on each hull will space the outboards approx 86" apart. If this poses an operational problem, would it be worth converting one of the outboards to conventional rotation? Thanx in advance.

Probably boat will tend to veer heavily to one side, same as having 2 CW rotating props. Will need constant course correction as boat will not follow a straight line course between 2 given points. Usually right engine is CW, left engine is CCW to maintain a proper straight ballanced course. Better check with Honda for a precise tech answer and cost if converting one before throwing yourself into deep sea.

Happy Boating

I think it will be fine. My friend had a 30 footer with twin V8 I/o. Both rotated conventionally. He never had a handling issue of any great magnitude.

Johnnyrude uses a counter rotating gearcase on their CR models. You can buy a new gearcase from SEI that rotates any way you want, for $600. However, I am not sure how Hond achieves CR models.

Considering your boat and a great deal, I'd go for that. Not ideal, but your boat may be more tollerant than a monohull.
