i have a 1988 blue fin fishing boat and would love to have more power on it. as i read through the shop manual i noticed the 6,9, and 35 amp stators.

my question is will the 35 amp stator fit on an 88spl i assume i would need the regulator also. if it will fit is there anything else i need to make it work or is it just not compatible. if it will work is there any reason not to do it other then expence and time.

thanks andrew K

Sorry but it will not work as 35 amp system not offered for the 4 cylinder crossflow engines.

You can only swap them on a V-6.

Correct. However if I'm not mistaken the latest stator I bought for one'a my V4's is 10 amp? The coils are exposed vs being encased in epoxy like earlier ones. I'm told they run cooler'n, correspondingly, are more efficient?

what i dont understand is the manual says some of the 150 an 155 sixes came with a 9 amp charge system that was also on the 4cyl. if this is so then the stators should interchange and also the rectifiers. question is what the differancenses in the fly wheel.

Bigger tapers on the V-6 flywheel.
