Re: Will a Trim & Tilt unit for

There is no appreciable difference between any Mercury, mariner, or Force single ram trim system. If you engine brackets accept a single ram system from one then it will also accept a single ram from any other. The internal designs of pumps, manifolds, and trim limit spools changed over time but the ram and mounting remained the same. Make sure to install anode and wire strap. You can set horsepower from one engine to another with the trim spool spring. or just disable the trim spool entirely and the system will lift any horsepower to any angle at any time. With trim limit disabled you'll bend or break something before the engine stops lifting.

The early models with round plastic reservoir are not very good design. Unless the price is great then you may want to pass on that style and hold out for a 97-09ish system with the square reservoir base. Much better pump design. and, if you can be picky, go for the two wire motor. It sucks down less juice.

OK so it will fit, But you are saying that this unit is inferior to say a 97-09 ish year model???? Unless I can get it for a good price then don't buy it. How would $189.00 for this unit sound in price? Thanks for the help.
Here are a few more pics.

Re: Will a Trim & Tilt unit for

that is a 3 ram system. I thought you were talking about the 115HP single ram. IDK about the three ram systems. I don't think you can easily convert to the 115HP single ram if you shipped with a three ram.

Try cross referencing the mounting shaft and piston diameters. Mercury has 50 different numbers for same part depending upon angle of moon. But they generally use the same part numbers on shafts, brackets, and fittings. You'll have to dig down to a part they don't change numbers on and verify your dimensions. Or, if you don't want to spend all day looking at parts diagrams just put the two systems next to each other and measure.

Re: Will a Trim & Tilt unit for

OK you are starting to confuse me now. I think maybe you misunderstood my original question. What I am wanting to do is replace the complete mounting bracket on my motor with a complete trim & tilt mounting bracket. My motor does not have trim & tilt and there are some corrosion issues with my mounting bracket. So instead of Just fixing the bad parts on my motors monuting bracket I am wanting to just upgrade to a complete bracket with trim & tilt. Does this make sense.

I would be real surprized it that swap would work. There was a lot of changes over the years. You would need to use the Swivel Bracket from the new motor, as well as the transom clamp. That means that the ride guard mount bolts, on the steering arm would need to mate with the rubber mounts which are captive in the exhaust extension of the old motor, and the lower ride guard mount bolts would need to match the rubber mounts bolted onto the midsection.

I will bet the distance between the bolts has changed over the years.

As you can see, it will be an involved swap....

Sorry it wont work as lower yoke and swivel arm are different on the V-6 engines and 115 L4. Try to find a assy off a 75-115 mid 80's engine(inline 4 &6) as these will work with some mods to lower splash cowling and upper engine mounts,it quite a bit of work as powerhead and exhaust plate must to pulled to access upper mounts..

Yea I know... the clamp bracket he is looking at at beginning of post fits a 115 L4 and V-6 engines and swivel arm and yoke (red arrows) are different widths on a Inline 6.........

Re: Will a Trim & Tilt unit for

if this was my frankenmerc project then I would buy a couple slabs of thick stainless. I'd put four holes into each plate. Two holes would line up with engine and two holes would line up with swivel assy.

RRitt Not sure what you mean by frankenmerc project. I am not wanting to engineer a makeup SWIVEL BRACKKET ASSEMBLY to just try to make something work. I posted a pic of a 2000 model year SWIVEL BRACKKET ASSEMBLY with trim & tilt. I am asking if it would fit my motor in place of the
SWIVEL BRACKKET ASSEMBLY on my motor is all. So I will search for the correct complete SWIVEL BRACKKET ASSEMBLY with trim & tilt that will fit my motor. In other words bolt right on. :D
Thanks for all the help guy's I really do appreciate it.
