Will Alpha1 Y pipe fit my upper plumbing?

Hi All
My boat has a V8 Mercruiser 1985/86 mated to a Gimbal Housing using the old 3 piece Y exhaust with strange bolt hole configuration. I have been told my G Housing (badly worn steering shaft bearings) is late 70's by a parts supplier per pics I sent. Of note is the G Ring does not have any clamp bolts showing at the top so probably a spline there? Anyway the supplier sent me an Alpha1 replacement G Housing in good nick - problem is my old style exh T piece at bottom of Y exh pipes does not match the bolt holes on the new G Housing. Mechanic says get a new/used Alpha1 Y pipe one piece to match the bolt holes but what about match up to my upper plumbing off the risers? Don't want super expense of getting a whole swag of new parts (dont worry I have since replaced the manifolds with new dry joint style just in time it would seem). It appears the source of the problem was the "unexpected" very early bolt layout on my G Housing not a match with my 85/86 V8 motor - original re-power must have used a later Alpha1 inner G Plate with the wider rear eng mounts?. Can I just re-use my old 3 piece Y pipe eg ignore the long through bolt in the centre just use the bolts that match up?
