Will any Jackplate lower my motor?

I have a steel barge and had a welder put on a new 3/4'' steel engine bracket for my Merc 150. He completely messed up and welded the plate 5" higher than he was supposed to. My question is do they make any kind of Jackplate or ANYTHING that will lower the motor instead of raising it?

Have the welder get out his "gas axe" (cutting torch) and cut off five inches, then grind it smooth. Has to be much cheaper than a jackplate.

There are many jackplates that will either raise or lower your outboard. There are manual, hydraulic and fixed jacks available. However, if you use a jackplate to lower your outboard it may interfere with being able to tilt the outboard up unless you use a jackplate with enough setback.

These are examples of a few types of jacks

wow 3/4" STEEL!!!!! its only a 150!!!

I think if it has holes for mounting a standard outboard, most Jack plates wont work.... they fit at normal height, and then GO UP from there..

unless they can be mounted upside down?, certainly not a hydraulic unit.

you could get a fixed jack plate, and probably invert the mounting...

youd be better off all around getting the plate rewelded were it belongs so you have lots of versatility for standard stuff..

but you can get some set back if you go with a jack plate......
any pictures??
