Will controls for '89 150XP work for '94 looper?

Considering purchasing a '94 Evinrude looper 150 to replace the '89 150XP, and just wondering if the controls for my '89 will work for the looper? From what Dhadley, Walleyehead and others have said, there should be quite a difference in performance between these two engines (assuming both are set up properly, of course).

Yes, the controls are the same.<br /><br />Yes, the motors are night & day different in power.

Control should work OK.OMC changed the wiring harness in 1996.Consider new control cables though if they are the original ones or are stiff.<br /><br />DHP
