will gas float on oil or oil on gas?

Found what looked like oil but smelled like gas in bilge. I dont have it put the boat together yet. The only thing it has in it is a 60 gal gas tank and (near empty) and trim tabs system. I dont see leaks in eather one of them

THE LIGHTEST WILL FLOAT AND SOUNDS LIKE GAS MIGHT BE THE LIGHTEST????

Funny to me... <br /><br />Gas floats on oil!!!!
