Hi all,
I 've found an outboard Mercury efi 225hp at a very good price and i wonder what would be the efficiency of my old (1978) Sea Ray SRV 220 if i replace the 228hp inboard (around 30 knots) with the 225hp outboard adding a bracket. Please don't suggest me to keep the inboard, I'm fed up with all the troubles of the inboard engines

Probably faster due the drastic decrease in weight. However, many I/O to outboard conversions turn out to be less than satisfactory so one may offset the other.

Add a bracket and a 300HP E-tech or 300 4 stroke Yamaha and you'd really have something! Good Luck!:)

basicly like said you should have more speed . especially when the outboard is ratet at the prop and your ol inboard at the flywheel.

but be careful with the handling characteristics when the boat was designed for an I/O
