Here's the sitch:
<br />Been working on the motor all evening in an attempt to get it running in the next day or two. I've got a 73 Merc 850 with duel back drag carburetor's. I've got a two fuel lines running into the top carb and one going into the bottom. The hose that links the two carbs is about 6 inches. HOWEVER! When I took the old hose off to replace it, I had to loosen the fuel inlet covers and now for the life of me, I cannot remember which way the hose ran to keep it out of the way of the starter (I took the hose off a couple of weeks ago and just now got around to putting it back on). So to alleviate any further frustration, cussing and throwing of tools
, I was thinking about increasing the length of the hose from 6" to about 12-15" so I can reroute it to make the starter fit without pinching the hose. Will doing so affect how the carbs work? Good? Bad? Also, on the top carb, one of the fuel lines is coming in from the side of the engine near the back of the motor (sorry can't be more specific on that one) Does this hose run into the top inlet valve or the bottom inlet valve on the top carb? I've flipped thru my manual several times and can't find a good enough picture to show exactly how these hoses run. One last question, what size fuel line should I use? I've heard to use 3/8" since it won't hurt the carbs to get the little extra fuel.
