Looks like you've got 4 days until this auction is over, maybe this will give you time to determine whether your lower unit is good or bad. If you still have it off, how about taking the LU to a good shop and having them give it a look see, without tearing it down. They'd likely be able to give you at least some assessment. They may not be able to tell you for sure it's good without tearing into it, but they may be albe to tell you if it is bad just by the feel of it. I can't see they'd need to charge much for five minutes worth of time. Just a thought.
