Just a question for you all..I have an old mirrocraft with a 50 horse merc on it now. I have a chance to buy a 1980's evinrude 7.5 short shaft for around 200 bucks. The motor has strong blue spark, and good compression. Question is, will the short shaft be ok mounted on the transom as a kicker, or would i need a mounting plate? Also..Is there a way to have it AND the merc controlled by the remote steering? Here's the boat. Thanks in advance..

short shaft is for a 15 inch transom, what is your transom? they do make a linkage that connects to each motor for steering, question is are the motors too close.

If they both turned at the same time, i would have room. Im still buried onder tarp and snow up here, but i suspect the transom is longer looking at the picture. That merc appears to be a long shaft doesn't it?
