I have a 2004 mercury 40hp 3 cyl. engine that I am using for a parts motor. Neighbor gave it to me. I have a 1997 75 hp force 3cyl engine that has some burnt wiring. The stator on the 40hp mercury is a part number match for the 75hp force and so is the regulator. However the part numbers on the trigger don't match. Shouldn't the trigger work. They both are 3 cylinder engines and they both use cdm ignition coils.

more than likely it is probably related to the mounting and mounting holes I would guess yep otherwise time to pull and compare

The stator is used for a number of engines and should be marked on top as to orientation on the engine. Mercury triggers have a different linkage and are positioned differently, thus will not work on the Force--even though they may physically fit.
