will my 25 hp merc push this boat? not sure what forum

hey guys,
not sure what forum this should be in...

other than this being a 16ft alumininam v or semi v hull, i do not know anything else about it as far as weight.

my question is, i have a 85 25hp merc xd. think it will push this 16 foot? (i have a 14 foot fiberglass im currently resotoring that the motor came on)

Very common motor on a 16' utility. Should be nice.

My brother had a 35 Johnson on a boat like that. It really went. I'm sure you will be happy with your 25. I'm always a bit surprised when I put my Mighty Merc 6 horse on the standard 16 foot cabin rental tinny. Putt's right along.

I really appreciate everyones input. tomorrow ill be looking at the boat, i may pick it up but my wife will probably freak out because i not even half way through restoring the fiberglass 14ft that the motor came on

it's a boat you can use until the other is finished, and then easily sold. that's my excuse, any way.

No way! Always keep the tinnie. When the transom rots off the glass boat, you can still go fishing. Plus, when you grow old, like me, it's a lot easier to push an aluminum boat off the trailer than a fiberglass one. Just lean the aluminum boat up against the garage for emergency use.

I agree with CAT. That tin boat will be too nice to let go. It'll be a nice fishing machine.

so i bought the boat today...now i have two. I really need your help on deciding which one to keep. I wish i could keep both, but dont think i can. I need help on deciding which to keep and the pros and cons of each. please read my other thread and help me decide. the thread is a little long, so thanks in advance.
