Hi all,
I 've found an outboard Mercury efi 225hp at a very good price and i wonder what would be the efficiency of my old (1978) Sea Ray SRV 220 if i replace the mercruiser 228hp inboard (around 30 knots) with the 225hp outboard adding a bracket. Please don't suggest me to keep the inboard, I'm fed up with all the troubles of the inboard engines

Unless your hull was designed for an outboard I don't think you should do it.

Ok i 'll send some pics of the boat and the hull here and to Sea Ray to learn whether this boat has ever came with an outboard or not but my concern at present if this outboard is enough or not.

Don't get me wrong, but I think you out of your element trying to fix your engine.
You have been working on that thing since 07, following a piece of advise hear and there, and always using the cheapest and easiest sounding method with little or no followup.
I would bet money any good marine mechanic worth is salt could take your engine and make it run perfectly, or at least know why within a day.
The devil is in the details, and the details is what's killing you on getting it running.

If you can't make a simple carbed 350 run, you don't stand a chance with an EFI outboard when it doesn't run right.

Stick with the IO setup, but get some serious help to get it running right, and good luck with however you decide to fix it.
