I just burchased a 1993 24 ft Renken Seamaster, single engine IO. Has twin axel trailer. Will My 2010 Toyota Tacoma tow this ?

RTM (Read the Manual) . . . that is the best source. but generally speaking , yes a pick'em up truck will tow a 24 footer no sweat.

You may want to get the boat and trailer weight and compare it to the ratings in the owner's manual of the Tacoma, just to be sure and to see how much leeway you have, etc.

Tow capacity is 6500# if it has the tow package and V6. If that's the case then you are probably fine but weigh your rig loaded up with gear and fuel.

That's basically same size as my boat and I would have big reservations towing it on anything but level roads with a Tacoma. A Tundra maybe...Tacoma no way.

My Hemi powered Ram needs all it's got(on steep hills) towing our 5000 lb boat/trailer.

It would be a joke trying it with a V-6. :faint2:

A 1993 Renken Seamaster dry weight=4300 lbs. Figure 1200lbs' for trailer. 260lbs' for 40 gals gas. 200lbs' of gear. That's 5960 lbs minimum.

after you load on the launch ramp wet brakes sure can tow but got brakes. If you can make it up a steep ramp...:faint:

'IF' the truck was a 4X4, the trailer had working brakes, I was only towing a few miles, and it was at low speed... I'd probably do it.

For anything else, I agree with the others. You have too much boat, or not enough truck.

Assuming you already own the truck, the trailer has working brakes, and are going to keep the boat... register the trailer, hook it up, and let us know.

IME a 2008 DC LB 4x4 V6 with tow package does fine with a 4000lb Cape Dory 25 on a 1600 lb trailer.

The proper answer is by knowing your boat, trailer, and gear weight and looking up the capacity of your particular tow vehicle in the Owner's Manual or other reliable source.

I have a 19 foot Seamaster with an OB, and it is heavy. Could I tow it with my brothers Colorado? Yes, but it would be a hard pull up hill and a lot of low gear and brakes down hill ... Just would not be as much fun as it is towing with my V-8 Yukon. I believe you would be more comfortable with a bigger tow vehicle.

Be very cautious and careful as you test the limits of your Tacoma. That way you will really know. You know your ramp, how far you are towing, and the terrain you are covering. That all plays into the equation.

The 2010 Tacoma is a decent sized truck. Its very close to the size of the original Tundra and not that much smaller than F-150's of the previous generation. I had a 2000 F-150 with the 4.6 L V8 before I got my 2007 Tacoma and the Tacoma tows better. As long as its a V6 Tacoma with the tow package it should be fine.

Unless I'm mistaken, the current king of the mountain in regards to 1/2 ton towing is a V6 (ford ecoboost)... Just not the same v6 as the OP's though.

For my 24' boat which is similar to the OP's boat, I tow it with a 1/2T Silverado with a 5.3L V8. I wouldn't even think of towing it with anything any smaller. As it is, I am going 30 MPH in low gear to get it up some grades and I have to very careful going down them and my trailer has 4 wheel disc brakes with an electric/hydraulic controller.
