will not start 70 hp

I have 1988 johnson 70 charged battery but wont start how do I check if its the starter or the solenoid thanks for advice .Also would bad starter or some kind of electrical problem make the carbs load up thats what happenned yesterday

Do you hear a click when you try and start? If so, that would be the solenoid clicking and that would lead to the starter being suspect.

When you turn the key to "start", does the solenoid "click"? Does the starter engage the flywheel?

97.4% of all electrical problems on boats are caused by corrosion and/or loose connections. Make sure your battery posts and cable terminals are shiny clean (use sandpaper if you have to), and tight-tight-tight. Don't just look at 'em, take 'em apart & clean 'em up.

Describe exactly what you mean by "carbs load up".
