What are the indications of the floater stuck high inCarburetor. I can not get the motor to start after trying to Adjust hi speed needle valve. I also got my idle stuck high after the H/S adjustment done and the motor die.

what would be the case of that?. The motor was idle fine and ran good at middle speed. Now it will not start or turn over. Please help.

Thank you.

Re: will not turn over.

Do you mean the electric starter will not turn the engine over? What engine are we dealing with here?

1964 Evinrude 28 hp 2 stroke with elecctric start. It keeps on cranking, has a good spark. I wonder about kill switch on the bck of the engine?

Any ideas? Thank you. P S the motor had new plugs, tune up kit, rebuilt carb. new set of points and good compression, 105, 104, thanks.

Re: will not turn over.

Try spraying some 50:1 mix into the carb, could be the fuel pump. This motor does not have high speed adjustment, just low speed. Seat the low speed needle all the way in and back it out 1 1/2 turns and try it from there. A stuck float usually causes gas to come out of the carb when the bulb is pumped, a stuck needle will not allow gas to flow. Did you remember to attach the clip to the needle and float upon reassembly? If it were a kill switch issue you wouldn't be getting spark.

Yes, I put that clip on it. Replaced fuel pump before winter 2009. The reason,

It died because after I try to adjust the high and the low speed last fr:eek:iday.
Now, just cranking and once in awhile there is a pop/ back fire this afternoon.

I will try again tomorrow when I got battery charge up. Thank you for ideals.
