Will powerhead fit?

I was wondering if anybody new if I could take a 86 Evinrude 60hp powerhead and put it on a 87 40hp motor. Also is there anyway to run a motor without the lower unit, to get it to pump water?

Don't know about the powerhead fit, but I run them all the time without the L/U. Shove a hose that fits good up on the water tube and turn on the water. It won't tell you anything about the pump though because the pump is in the L/U
