Wow guys - everyone seems to be really sold on the Smart Tabs. It seems that in the answers to every question, Smart Tabs are heralded as a solution. Are these things truly as great as everyone says? If so, what is their website so I can do a little research on my own?

Re: Will Smart Tabs improve my FM Radio reception?

I have reservations of buying them on my 16 ft bowrider. My swim ladder would be very close to it and I believe they will interfere with getting in and out of the boat.

Any comments from actual users on this?

They worked great for us but they are in the way of the fold down ladder. We don't use the ladder that much anyway so I just bought a 4-step ladder that hooks over the side from iboats for less than $40. It stores in the forward hatch and is out of the way. When we need it it's there. Now I've got to figure how to grow my arms another 6" so I can reach the nuts & backing plates to get the old one off.

P.S. Since installing the smart tabs we never get skunked. ;)

The problem with trying to market an item that truly lives up to it's claims is that no one wants to beleive it is true. Too many products make claims that can not be substantiated and too many people are suspicious, most of the time for good reasons. As the manufacturer of Smart Tabs I must say that it has been a pleasure hearing from people who have been so happy with the results. The product has never let us down.

It is not rocket science but it is a major departure from the historic method of addressing the most common problems. Change Props? Add Transom wedges? Add Hydrofoils? Add weight?

What trim tabs do is very simple, they allow you to alter the hull design, as needed, to compensate for the various and ever changing conditions. Trim Tabs simply increase the window of efficient operation. Smart Tabs do it automatically and constantly, others are done from the helm.

Re: Will Smart Tabs improve my FM Radio reception?

What I am looking for is something that will teach my boat that it is NOT an airplane. It wants to fly when ever it is trimmed up. Scares the crap out of my wife, and has made me pucker-up a few times as well. The last thing I want is another control that has to be constantly adjusted. I do however have molded-in swim platforms on both sides that nearly reach the water line.

I could use better reception on the radio too! :p

They did miracles with my AM reception but FM didn't improve much. I had to use cockpit adjustable tabs to get better FM. :D

datawire... I took the new to me aristocraft out this weekend, I don't see myself ever triming up. Hit the trim just a tiny bit and WHOA! It feels like the prop is the only thing in the water and gets way to squirelly for me.
