^27' Bayliner / 454 w/aprox. 1000 hrs and Bravo II drive w/aprox. 500 hrs.

Can someone tell me if the Bravo III dual prop lower unit can bolt up directly to the Bravo II upper unit with no modifications? Aside from lowering the rpm's and saving fuel during cruise, might I also gain some top end speed? And last but not least, what's the max rpm one would want to cruise a 454 with 1000 hrs on it that runs great?

Would really appreciate some help as I'm planning on doing some upgrading here in a month or so.

it will bolt up but there is the problem of gear ratios to contend with , so you should replace the complete drive and sell the old one .{my opinion}

From what I have seen in boat tests with same motor but different drives;
Time to plane is much faster with Bravo 3 vs B2.
Fuel consuption at cruise and speed at cruise is better with Bravo 3 vs B2
Time to Top speed is qicker with B3 vs B2
BUT TOP SPEED is better with single prop drives vs dual propeller drives.

All of the $6 figure big boats that I have seen at boat shows and in magazines all have single prop drives but most with dual or tripple single prop drives to match the engine count.

Will the difference in fuel consumption for cruising or the little extra range be worth the cost of the drive? If the drive is in need of a major overhaul then the answer would be yes but as to direct bolt up, make sure the dealer can answer that question IN WRITTING so that there won't be extra parts or hassles costing you!
