Will the MC1 lower work with an Alpha 1 Gen 1 upper?

I picked up a used MC1 lower unit and would like to use it with my Alpha 1/Gen 1 upper, the only difference I've found is that the driveshaft on the MC1 has a 5/8" long pin on the top that doesn't seem to seat into the Alpha 1 upper.....can I just cut that pin off?

DO NOT cut the pin off. It MUST stay on...

The pin is spring loaded and requires a bit of force to seat.
Just bolt it up like normal...

as long as the intermediate shaft splines are the same, it will bolt up.... the pin is spring loaded to keep a positive preload on the bearings and must be there for that model of drive.... the early models had an 8 spline intermediate shaft, and the later ones had a 13 spline intermediate shaft...
