Well first, I have to admit I watched a bit of The View today . . . Bill Maher was the guest, and he said that "Religion is the biggest con ever". He was given a chance to clarify and confirmed it. Now maybe some of you feel similarly, and that's OK, but didn't he just call 87% of Americans and, countless other human beings, stupid?

I think Maher is very intelligent. Common sense......well, thats another story. I have always found him to be entertaining though, and to the point, whether I, or John Q. Public agree or not.

I don't think he called anybody an idiot. Sheeple yes, but not idiots, but then again maybe he did. Barb should have stepped up and asked him if he was calling people idiots. Maybe he would have said yes, I don't know.

I don't really care what he says and/or thinks. I will listen as I do others and come to my own conclusions. If he truly meant that 78% (QC's numbers) of America is stupid, so what? I don't care.

Do you really care what he thinks, QC?

He's an entertainer. He makes his money entertaining. He is no different than Rush or anyone else. Like or hate these guys, they get to earn a substantial living just sitting there and putting forth their viewpoints. I wouldn't mind making a buck off of my opinions...

This is one problem our country is having. We have the choice of getting our info from biased msm, or from entertainment news. It's no wonder everyone is spinning around in circles....

'Attention on deck. Now here this." Oh contraire.I look upon him as an arrogant self belief spewing throwback comedian that spends more time self indulging in his bad humor than he does writing or adlibing the smut.

He is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Frankly, I think it is simply his smirk . . . I have always been drawn to him though, as I am still trying to figure out what he thinks Politically Incorrect is?

Barb should have stepped up and asked him if he was calling people idiots.
Baba put her head in her hands and said "who is gonna answer all of this mail? . . ." It was actually pretty funny. Joy Behar tried to bail him out of all people, she's ony one apple heavier than Rosie . . .

If he truly meant that 78% (QC's numbers) of America is stupid, so what?

I used 87%, and I think I heard that today . . .

Do you really care what he thinks, QC?
No. But I care about our youth and the portion of John Q. Public that do care what he thinks. Many of whom get their "news" from Maher. Anytime I hear what sounds like majority applause for crazy stuff, It bothers me.

I couldn't agree more. Haven't you ever been in traffic before? How many smart people do you see there?

I don't think "stupid" is a good description. "Misguided" is probably more accurate.

Human beings have a basic need for having explanations for unexplainable things. Been there since the first cavemen looked up in wonder. Religion offers the easiest avenue to fulfill this need.

In recent history, a lot of the previously unexplainable has been explained - one way or another - no denying that we are figuring more & more about the "mechanics" of things every day. What will never be explained, no matter how much we figure out in the future, is WHY!

Problem is, religion in its current form offers no way to separate the "mechanical" things from the "why". Either you believe the whole deal, or (according to the believers) nothing at all. You see it here all the time. Terms like "godless" or "xxxx worshipper" are used against anyone who questions or doubts.

With me being a natural questioner & doubter, I looked into many Christian denominations & found common underlying themes - corruption & general "unholiness" in places you would expect to find the opposite, money centricity, hypocrisy - and my questions & doubts were discounted as blasphemy. So I got out - wholesale.

Do I consider myself extraordinarily intelligent? No - just a good observer. I saw things that others choose not to - probably because of the implications to their "bigger picture" - thus the "misguided" statement.

Yep, 87%, sorry. Nothing intended by that. I am not sure the View audience represents the middle of the road public though. The majority also clapped when Rosie said one of the buildings brought down during 9/11 was an inside job.

I don't think his words weigh to heavy on our youth either. They don't even know who he is. Now, if Snoop Dog, Eminem, Paris H., or some other half-naked Pop culture hero took Maher's position, there may be need for worry.

Rosie seems to have more money for food than I do- congress needs to change the tax laws, so as to be pc, I get as much food as she does.

I really don't want to reply to trolls, but this one I can't resist.

My biggest problem with many religious people is how angry they get if someone doesn't share their beliefs. They usually feel that they have been called idiots.

Case in point.

Can't believe it but I actually agree with Bill Maher on this point...probably the only one I ever will too.
